This dissertation examines the measurement of nuclear resonance fluorescence gamma-rays as a technique to non-destructively determine isotopic compositions of target materials that are of interest for nuclear security applications. The physical processes that can result in non-resonant background to nuclear resonance fluorescence measurements are described and investigated using a radiation transport computer code that relies on the Monte Carlo technique, MCNPX. The phenomenon of nuclear resonance fluorescence is discussed with consideration of the angular distributions of resonance emissions, the effects of nuclear recoil, and the influence of thermal motion.Models describing two ways of measuring nuclear resonance fluorescence rates in materials are considered. First the measurement of back-scattered photons is considered. In this ty...
Testimony issued by the General Accounting Office with an abstract that begins "Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO discussed the Convention on Nuclear Safety, focusing on the: (1) Convention's scope and objectives; (2) process for reviewing compliance with the Convention; (3) dissemination of information related to the Convention's proceedings; and (4) costs to implement the Convention."
Presentación adaptada al texto del libro: “Temas de química (I) para alumnos de ITOP e ICCP”.
Recopilación de articulos de la WIKIPEDIA sobre fundamentos de la energía nuclear.
The moments of the fragment size distribution are studied for single events in a nuclear fragmentation experiment. It is shown that this nuclear breakup has clean remanents of a critical phenomenon.
