Resumo: O presente trabalho teve como objetivo investigar e demonstrar a aplicação prática e experimental da prototipagem rápida nos processos de design, desenvolvimento e manufatura de louças cerâmicas, visando contribuir para a inserção dessa tecnologia nas empresas do APL de Louças de Campo Largo. A indústria brasileira de louça de mesa foi prejudicada pela abertura de mercado. A oferta aumentou, obrigando as empresas a se organizarem para enfrentar a concorrência de produtos europeus de alta qualidade e asiáticos com baixo custo. Além disso, esse segmento ainda compete com utensílios em plástico e vidro. A formulation that finds the optimal design of a controlled structure is proposed. To achieve this goal, a composite objective composed of structural and control objectives is introduced to be optimized, and the effect of the control weighting is examined. A feedback control law is defined before the structural optimization and then the composite objective will only become a function of structural design variables. As a result, optimal structural design and control forces in steady state are obtained.
The primary purpose of this research is to look into the design of successful logos and determine what design characteristics make them so easily recognizable and memorable. While an identity can be costly, it is crucial to all businesses and organizations in their beginning years. Design optimization is an important engineering design activity. Research on design optimization has considered better solution methods as well as novel formulations. Although there exist well-established measures for evaluating solution methods (both exact algorithms and heuristics), attributes for evaluating a design optimization model do not exist. This paper presents a comprehensive approach for evaluating a design optimization model along the following dimensions: scope, variable set, objective function, and model structure. Using these attributes distinguishes design optimization models from each other and helps one locate relevant design optimization models. Moreover, they may lead to a comprehensive classification scheme. Finally, they will be useful for assessing design optimization research.
Interaction Design: Foundations, Experiments is the result of a series of projects, experiments and curricula aimed at investigating the foundations of interaction design in particular and design research in general. The first part of the book - Foundations - deals with foundational theoretical issues in interaction design. An analysis of two categorical mistakes -the empirical and interactive fallacies- forms a background to a discussion of interaction design as act design and of computational technology as material in design. The second part of the book - Experiments - describes a range of design methods, programs and examples that have been used to probe foundational issues through systematic questioning of what is given.
Present thermal design tools and methods insufficiently support the development of structural concepts engaged by typical practicing designers. Research described in this thesis identifies the main thermal design problems in practice. In addition, models and methods are developed that support an efficient conceptual thermal design process, resulting in higher quality products. Finally, the applicability, efficiency and quality of applying the models in design is evaluated by means of experiments and interviews. In the preliminary stage of this research, an overview is given of the practical problems encountering thermal design in practice. Instead of the heuristic randomization methods to design split questionnaires that are currently used in applied and academic research, we develop a methodology to design the split questionnaire to minimize information loss. Because the number of possible questionnaire designs is exponential in the number of questions, we apply the Modified Federov algorithm, using Kullback Leibler Distance as a design criterion, to find the optimal splits. First of all, we illustrate the efficiency of the Modified Federov Algorithm on a small synthetic questionnaire, which enables the enumeration of all possible designs for comparison.
