Class of imide-amine curing agents preserves structural integrity, prevents fiber release, and is fully compatible with conventional epoxy resins; agents do not detract from composite properties while greatly reducing char yield. This study reports on overfeed packed bed char combustion experiments and modelling. Experimental results are used to verify the assumptions of an existing char combustion simulation. The computer model uses finite volume discretization methods to predict temperature and concentration profiles for packed bed char combustion. Also, the behaviour of ash in a packed bed is explored and incorporated into the model by accounting for the effect of ash on such properties as bed void fraction and heat and mass transfer processes. The effects of air flow rate and bed depth on the burning rate, the bed temperature and gas concentrations are also examined. Experiments were performed in a reactor 23 cm in diameter and 20 cm high. The aim of study was providing a novel adsorbent for the removal of Escherichia coli (E.coli) as a microbial model from contaminated air especially in hospital units using bone char (BC). The BC was prepared from cattle animal bone by pyrolysis in a furnace at 450°C for 2 h. The characteristics of BC have been determined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), pHzpc, apparent density and iodine number. Nebulizer system applied to convert the E.coli with different concentration into bioaerosols. The variables included: BC weights (4-10 g), the adsorbent pore size (20-40 mesh) and microbial concentrations (103-107 CFU/mL). Percolative fragmentation was confirmed to occur during gasification of three microporous coal chars. Indirect evidence obtained by the variation of electrical resistivity (ER) with conversion was supported by direct observation of numerous fragments during gasification. The resistivity increases slowly at low conversions and then sharply after a certain conversion value, which is a typical percolation phenomenon suggesting the occurrence of internal fragmentation at high conversion. Two percolation models are applied to interpret the experimental data and determine the percolation threshold. A percolation threshold of 0.02-0.07 was found, corresponding to a critical conversion of 92-96% for fragmentation. Two types of preservative-treated woods, CCA- (chromated copper arsenate) and ACQ- (ammoniacal copper quats) treated specimens, and Taiwania cryptomerioides Hay (Taiwania), as a control specimen, were used in this study. Carbonization is a kind of pyrolysis process to produce char from organic materials under an inert atmosphere. In this work, chars derived from various solid wastes were characterized from the standpoint of fuel recovery and pretreatment of waste before landfilling. Sixteen kinds of municipal and industrial solid wastes such as residential combustible wastes, non-combustible wastes, bulky wastes, construction and demolition wastes, auto shredder residue, and sludges were carbonized at 500℃ for 1 h under nitrogen atmosphere.
