This paper describes the steps to be executed for the design of an FPGA-based circuit that sorts ternary vectors of a matrix (with the size 16x16) and visualizes the result on a VGA monitor screen. The initial matrix is arbitrary filled with values 0, 1 and '-' (don't care) and then it is sorted using the bubblesort algorithm. Finally the initial and the sorted matrices will be displayed on themonitor screen.
In this paper a CWDM bi-directional opticaltransponder is described. This transponder was built in theframework of the project SIRAC. The design optionsfollowed are detailed discussed. This paper also discusses thepossible extension of the transponder to Dense WavelengthDivision Multiplexing (DWDM) systems.Znda Terms - Optical Transponder, CWDM Systems,DWDM Systems, FEC.
In this paper we present the final result of the development of a general purpose Lift Monitoring System, which has been held in the context of a Project discipline in the last year of the graduated course in Engenharia Electrónica e Telecomunicações da Universidade de Aveiro. This project is part of a three project proposals block brought to us by a company called Liffech. This company is responsible for the production and commercialisation of Lift Command Systems. The developed system can be adapted to any kind of lift, isable to monitor a significant amount of signals and provides agroup of command signals that can be actuated on request.Technical assistance by authorized personnel can also bemonitored. Remote monitoring is provided by a RemoteSupervising Centre, which can be in ...
This paper describes a circuit to be designed for processing graphs with up to 25 vertices. The circuit has been implemented in a FPGA Spartan-ZZ XC2S200 (the development board RC100 of Celoxica). A mouse and a monitor have been used for interactions with the circuit. The design has been performed in Celoxica [1] DK2 environment from a specification in Handel-C.
In this paper we briefly introduce the mathematical foundations of deformable models, their properties and their usage in medical image segmentation.
This issue of the DET Journal continues to highlight the usual diversity of scientific and educational interests that determine our activities as members of DET.Just a quick review of the index to identify themes in areas of telecommunications, information systems, signal and image processing  and computer systems, and control.
This article describes StackFences, a run-time technique for detecting overflows in local variables in C programs. This technique is different from all others developed so far because it tries to detect expiicit overflow occurrences, instead of detecting if a particular stack value, namely a return address, was corrupted because of a stack overflow. Thus, StackFences is useful not only for detecting intrusionattempts but also for checking the run-time robustness of applications. We also conceived different policies for deploying StackFences, allowing a proper balancing between detection accuracy and performance. For testing StackFences we developed a prototype for Linux systems using TCC (Tiny C Compiler). C modules compiled with StackFences are fully compatible with C modules compiled differen...
