This article intends to discuss the problematic of myth’s concept from a central dialogue between Marshal Sahlins and the main names of the anthropology that had approached the subject: Bronislaw Malinowski: Claude Lévi-Strauss e Mircea Eliade. Following, we will demonstrate where measured a metaphysic deconstruction of the myth’s concept indicates how deep in the facticy of the real it is. Being a representation, par excellence, of the acceptance of the fate and daily anguishes.
At the outset, the paper briefly addresses European Union (EU) citizenship as enshrined in the Treaty on the European Union. Attention is paid on its transnational nature. The political symbolism attached to EU citizenship is also emphasised, as it tries to emulate national concepts of belonging at the EU level. Despite some achievements, flaws are nevertheless a major setback on the EU ambition for supranational citizenship’s limited scope.European Union citizenship is addressed through a twofold conceptual lens. On the one hand, it is measured in terms of the impact on citizens’ loyalties. Eurobarometer and other statistical data are scrutinised to draw a picture on whether citizens drive their loyalties to the EU or to the national (or even regional) levels. Therefore, empirical data provide an assessment of EU citizenship outcomes....

The encounters between the Portuguese and the Japanese in the sixteenth century played an important role in the history of Japan. The Portuguese established trade relations between the two countries, introduced Christianity into Japan and, by being the first contact of the Japanese with a different culture, constituted the Other against whomthe Japanese identity took shape. Beginning with a historical overview, based on an analysis of textbooks used in Japanese schools and on interviews conducted in Japan, this article examines what the contemporary Japanese learn about the Portuguese and how they are taught to perceive them. The main conclusion is that the Portuguese, trade and Christianity are seen as being closely associated, just as in fact they were in the past.
