This thesis gives a functorial interpretation of the Naive Space of Maps Nd as a parametrizing space for a family of maps from certain rational curves to P¹.
The ACTS Collection is a set of software tools that help developers or programmers write high performance parallel codes for their scientific applications. PyACTS is a Python-based interface to some of the tools in the ACTS Collection. The main purpose of developing PyACTS is to provide a uniform easy-to-use external interface to existing ACTS tools,and support ACTS users to rapidly prototype their codes with the tools. In particular, for users who are new to ACTS, they will find PyACTS helpful to test and try the functionality available in the collection. Further, this training will allow users to acquire the necessary experience to develop their own applications. Cell-based immunotherapy for lymphoid malignancies has gained increasing attention as patients develop resistance to conventional treatments. γδ T cells, which have major histocompatibility complex (MHC)-unrestricted lytic activity, have become a promising candidate population for adoptive cell transfer therapy. We previously established a stable condition for expanding γδ T cells by using anti-γδ T-cell receptor (TCR) antibody. In this study, we found that adoptive transfer of the expanded γδ T cells to Daudi lymphoma-bearing nude mice significantly prolonged the survival time of the mice and improved their living status. abstractBackground: To train chunkers in recognizing noun phrases and verb phrases in biomedical text, an annotated corpus is required. The creation of gold standard corpora (GSCs), however, is expensive and time-consuming. GSCs therefore tend to be small and to focus on specific subdomains, which limits their usefulness. We investigated the use of a silver standard corpus (SSC) that is automatically generated by combining the outputs of multiple chunking systems. We explored two use scenarios: one in which chunkers are trained on an SSC in a new domain for which a GSC is not available, and one in which chunkers are trained on an available, although small GSC but supplemented with an SSC.Results: We have tested the two scenarios using three chunkers, Lingpipe, OpenNLP, and Yamcha, and two different corpora, GENIA and PennBioIE. A new quantitative and visual analysis technique is developed to study the white matter integrity along fibre bundles using Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) tractography. Our approach takes advantages of DTI tractography and geodesic path mapping, which establishes group-wise correspondences to allow direct cross-subject evaluation of diffusion properties. The 3D volumetric fibre bundle is approximated by streamlines reconstructed using DTI. We present the fibre bundle mask strategy to measure thin fibre bundles in group analysis. A novel isonode visualisation method is developed to facilitate the visual inspection of local white matter alterations within a neural pathway.
We report the first comprehensive investigation of the organic superconductor (TMTSF)2PF6 in the vicinity of the endpoint of the spin density wave - metal phase transition where phase coexistence occurs. At low temperature, the transition of metallic domains towards superconductivity is used to reveal the various textures. In particular, we demonstrate experimentally the existence of 1D and 2D metallic domains with a cross-over from a filamentary superconductivity mostly along the c?-axis to a 2D superconductivity in the b?c-plane perpendicular to the most conducting direction. The formation of these domain walls may be related to the proposal of a soliton phase in the vicinity of the critical pressure of the (TMTSF)2PF6 phase diagram.
