Most of the procedures that have been developed to find solutions to the single-machine, multi-product lot scheduling problem depend on judgment to define the desirable frequencies of production for the products. In this paper we describe an iterative procedure for directly determining near optimal frequencies of production for the products and the associated fundamental cycle time which, in many cases, can be used directly for constructing production schedules. In cases where feasible schedules cannot be constructed using the values from the iterative procedure, the procedure provides a basis for changing the production frequencies and the fundamental cycle time to obtain feasible schedules.
The Prostate Expression Database (PEDB) is a curated relational database and suite of analysis tools designed for the study of prostate gene expression in normal and disease states. Expressed Sequence Tags (ESTs) and full-length cDNA sequences derived from more than 40 human prostate cDNA libraries are maintained and represent a wide spectrum of normal and pathological conditions. Detailed library information including tissue source, library construction methods, sequence diversity and abundance are available in a library archive. Prostate ESTs are assembled into distinct species groups using the multiple alignment program CAP2 and are annotated with information from the GenBank, dbEST and Unigene public sequence databases. Background: For experimental basic research, standardized transplantation models reflecting technical and immunologic aspects are necessary. This article describes an experimental model of combined pancreas/kidney transplantation (PKTx) in detail. Materials and Methods: Donor rats underwent en bloc pancreatectomy and nephrectomy. Revascularization was performed using the aorta with the superior mesenteric artery and the inferior vena cava with the portal vein. Exocrine drainage of the pancreas took place over a segment of the duodenum which was transplanted side-to-side to the jejunum. The kidney vessels were transplanted end-to-side. The ureter was anastomosed by patch technique. Postoperatively, serum parameters were monitored daily. Biopsies for histopathology were taken on days 5, 8 and 12. We measure the time-dependent CP asymmetry in B^0→K_S^0π^0γ decays for two regions of K_S^0-π^0 invariant mass, m(KS0π0), using the final BABAR data set of 467×10^6 BB pairs collected at the PEP-II e^+e^- collider at SLAC. We find 339±24 B^0→K^(*0)γ candidates and measure S_(K*γ)=-0.03±0.29±0.03 and C_(K*_γ)=-0.14±0.16±0.03. In the range 1.1
The ratio R_(τμ)(Υ(1S)) = Γ_(Υ(1S)→τ^+^τ-)/Γ_(Υ(1S)→μ^+μ^-) is measured using a sample of (121.8±1.2) × 10^(6)Υ(3S) events recorded by the BABAR detector. This measurement is intended as a test of lepton universality and as a search for a possible light pseudoscalar Higgs boson. In the standard model (SM) this ratio is expected to be close to 1. Any significant deviations would violate lepton universality and could be introduced by the coupling to a light pseudoscalar Higgs boson. The analysis studies the decays Υ(3S)→Υ(1S)π^+π^-, Υ(1S)→l^+l^-, where l = μ, τ. The result, R_(τμ)(Υ(1S)) = 1.005±0.013(stat)±0.022(syst), shows no deviation from the expected SM value, while improving the precision with respect to previous measurements.
We observe the decays D*_(s1)(2710)^+ → D*K and D*_(sJ)(2860)^+ → D*K and measure their branching fractions relative to the DK final state. We also observe, in the D*K mass spectrum, a new broad structure at a mass of (3044 ± 8_(stat)(^(+30)_(-5))_(syst))  MeV/c^2 having a width Γ =(239 ± 35_(stat)(^(+46)_(-42))_(syst))  MeV. To obtain this result we use 470  fb^(-1) of data recorded by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e^+e^- storage rings at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center running at center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV.
We present measurements of B-meson decays to the final states η′ρ, η′f_0, and η′K*, where K* stands for a vector, scalar, or tensor strange meson. We observe a significant signal or evidence for η′ρ^+ and all the η′K* channels. We also measure, where applicable, the charge asymmetries, finding results consistent with no direct CP violation in all cases. The measurements are performed on a data sample consisting of 467 × 10^6 BB(overbar) pairs, collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e^+e^- collider at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. Our results favor the theoretical predictions from perturbative QCD and QCD factorization and we observe an enhancement of the tensor K*_2(1430) with respect to the vector K*(892) component.
We present a measurement of the branching fractions of the 22 decay channels of the B^0 and B+ mesons to D̅ ^((*))D^((*))K, where the D^((*)) and D̅ ^((*)) mesons are fully reconstructed. Summing the 10 neutral modes and the 12 charged modes, the branching fractions are found to be B(B^0→D̅6((*))D^((*))K)=(3.68 ± 0.10 ± 0.24)% and B(B^+→D̅ ^((*))D^((*))K)=(4.05 ± 0.11 ± 0.28)%, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The results are based on 429  fb^(-1) of data containing 471 × 10^6BB̅ pairs collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.
Using the entire sample of 467×10^6 Υ(4S)→BB[overbar] decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, we perform an analysis of B^± → DK^± decays, using decay modes in which the neutral D meson decays to either CP-eigenstates or non-CP-eigenstates. We measure the partial decay rate charge asymmetries for CP-even and CP-odd D final states to be A_(CP+) = 0.25±0.06±0.02 and A_(CP-) = -0.09±0.07±0.02, respectively, where the first error is the statistical and the second is the systematic uncertainty. The parameter A_(CP+) is different from zero with a significance of 3.6 standard deviations, constituting evidence for direct CP violation.
