A measurement of the spin alignment of charged D* mesons produced in continuum e+e- → cc̅ events at √s = 10.5 GeV is presented. This study using 4.72 fb-1 of CLEO II data shows that there is little evidence of any D* spin alignment.
The decays ϒ(4S)→BB̅ , followed by B→D^*π and D^*→Dπ, permit reconstruction of all kinematic quantities that describe the sequence without reconstruction of the D, with reasonably low backgrounds. Using an integrated e^+e^- luminosity of 3.1 fb^(-1) accumulated at the ϒ(4S) by the CLEO-II detector, we report measurements of B(B̅ ^0→D^(*+)π^-) = (2.81±0.11±0.21±0.05)×10^(-3) and B(B-→D^*0π^-) = (4.34±0.33±0.34±0.18)×10^(-3).
"This paper describes the electronics used for the ATLAS monitored drift tube (MDT) chambers. These chambers are the main component of the precision tracking system in the ATLAS muon spectrometer. The MDT detector system consists of 1,150 chambers containing a total of 354,000 drift tubes. It is capable of measuring the sagitta of muon tracks to an accuracy of 60 mm, which corresponds to a momentum accuracy of about 10% at pT= 1 TeV. The design and performance of the MDT readout electronics as well as the electronics for controlling, monitoring and powering the detector will be discussed. These electronics have been extensively tested under simulated running conditions and have undergone radiation testing certifying them for more than 10 years of LHC operation.
