Oxide dispersion-strengthened copper has the ability to retain most of its properties at elevated temperatures. Among various processes, powder metallurgy route is ideal because of its efficiency in dispersing fine oxide particles. In this study, copper-alumina composites is produced through powder metallurgy route whereby copper powder, which is the matrix, was mixed with alumina powder, which act as reinforcement. Powder mixtures with different compositions of alumina (2.5wt%, 5wt%, 7.5wt% and 10wt%) were prepared. The mixtures were then mixed either by (a) blending process for 45 minutes in a ball mill or (b) mechanical alloying for 45 minutes in a planetary mill. The elastic properties of neodymium phosphate xNd2O3(1-x)P2O5 glasses with different compositions containing from 10 to 25 mole % Nd2O3 has been studied by ultrasonic technique, as functions of temperature from 270 K to 303 K. The elastic properties like adiabatic elastic stiffness coefficients, C11, C44 and bulk modulus, B of the glasses have been determined using the experimental data. The temperature dependence of the elastic properties were used to explores useful information about the fractal bond connectivity of the neodymium phosphate glasses which lies between 2.00 and 2.70. This result indicates that the neodymium phosphate glasses were connected in an array between two and three dimensional network.
Asid amino merupakan bahan asas dalam tisu tumbuhan dan haiwan. Tirosina (Tr) salah satu jenis asid amino yang mengandungi gelang aromatik, telah dipilih sebagai sampel untuk proses degradasi dalam medium akueus. Ini bertujuan melihat kesan penggunaan mangkinfoto dalam sinaran ultralembayung (ë < 400 nm) atau cahaya matahari ke atas molekul tirosina. Kajian telah dijalankan menggunakan sistem cahaya, mangkin serbuk TiO2, hidrogen peroksida, H2O2 dan ion logam. Penambahan ion logam seperti Ni2+, Cu2+, Ag+, Mn2+, Co2+, Fe2+ dan Cd2+ dan agen pengoksidaan, iaitu hidrogen peroksida adalah untuk mendapatkan kaedah yang paling cekap. Task scheduling is a combinatorial optimisation problem that is known to have large interacting degrees of freedom and is generally classified as NP-complete. Most solutions to the problem have been proposed in the form of heuristics. These include approaches using list scheduling, queueing theory, graph theoretic and enumerated search. In this paper, we present a dynamic scheduling method for mapping tasks onto a set of processing elements (PEs) on the reconfigurable mesh parallel computing model. Our model called the Dynamic Scheduler on Reconfigurable Mesh (DSRM) is based on the Markovian m/m/c queueing system, where tasks arrive and form a queue according to Poisson distribution, and are serviced according to the exponential distribution. The purpose of this paper is to present a new approach in controlling an active suspension system. This approach utilized the proportional integral sliding mode control scheme. Using this type of sliding surface, the asymptotic stability of the system during sliding mode is assured compared to the conventional sliding surface. The proposed control scheme is applied in designing an automotive active suspension system for a quarter-car model and its performance is compared with the existing passive suspension system. A simulation study is performed to prove the effectiveness of this control design.
Variations in construction have long been a debatable issue among the different participants involved in construction projects. However, only a few formal studies have been carried out to analyse its causes and effects. This study is focused on the frequency and severity of various factors causing variations in sewerage networks construction projects. It is important for a company not only to know the variation costs, but also to identify the most likely areas on which to focus in order to reduce these costs for the future projects. All the necessary data and information are obtained from archival files of thirteen projects and verified through interviews. Malay timber houses of Peninsular Malaysia are embellished with carved components that served both functional and aesthetic purpose, thus acting as one of the determining factors in defining the character of the regional architecture. The physical form of woodcarving is governed by four factors, namely, principal forms and arrangement, types of incisions and perforations, types of motifs and design principles regulating its composition. The Malay craftsmen of Kelantan, Terengganu, Perak and Negeri Sembilan applied these factors in their carvings which resulted in similarities and differences of visual compositions. The major similarities included the application of four principal forms of carving patterns and seven shapes of carving arrangements. On the other hand, the differences occurred in types of motifs and types of incisions.
In this paper, I propose a study to investigate the relationship between an organization’s performance and the fit of competitive priorities of manufacturing and marketing functions. There are two propositions in this study. First, organizations that exhibit a higher degree of fit of competitive priorities between their marketing and manufacturing functions will have a higher customer satisfaction compared to those that exhibit a lower degree of fit of competitive priorities between their marketing and manufacturing functions. Second, organizations that have higher customer satisfaction will have better financial performance compared to those that have lower customer satisfaction.
